So we left Vermont after a 3 hour road ride this a.m.. We rode up past the venue and then down into West Dover, from there we took a turn that ended up being a very long climb and when we crested the mountain we were greeted with a spectacular view of the Green Mountains. The clouds were hanging low and you could see for miles and miles. The cloud cover caused many shades of blues to form over the different peaks, breath taking.
We then headed toward NYC, with the plan to have East Coast Seafood. As we neared the coast we got off the main road and again ended up driving along the coast/bogs at 25-30 mph for a while. Didn't find anything we liked, hopped back onto the Interstate and then got off in Norwalk, CT. Maneuvered, a true ghetto, and were soon happy to see the Lexus's, BMW's, Land Rovers, and Mercedes that mark a proper East Coast upscale village. We cruised through this nice little harbor and found a couple options for dinner, while looking for a place to park in a small parking lot a man said "I am the Valet, you must let me park your car". I responded, "Uh, I can do it, I am actually in the stall". "Oh, NO", he says. "I am the Valet"! "Fine", we got out with the car running, Max in the back seat, bikes on the roof with pink road wheels and watch the Valet back into a different spot in between a Mercedes and a Lexus. The restaurant was a trip as well. Everyone had proper boating/yachting/shore villa attire. Full on Docker disasters. Everyone was dressed to the hilt and every child looked like a Jr. yachtsman. Not a shirt tail to be seen. I watched one guy freak out because he spilled some of his lobster butter on his white pants! Tisk Tisk... Let's just say we probably looked like dirt bags showing up in a dirt bag vehicle, priceless! We should have taken pictures. The food was delicious, and the view was good as well.
My adventures continue tomorrow, I drop Evel off at the JFK Airport in NYC, then I hit the road with the Wonder Dog. I hope to be to the North Carolina NMBS in Banner Elk by Wednesday or Thursday. Race Saturday.
Tuck that shirt in!
